A Little Mexican Getaway...

Last February, we went on a little excursion to Mexico with Todd and Melissa. We have done this a few times before and decided it was time to go back to this amazing resort - it didn't disappoint!! We always have an amazing time together - the boys go on snorkeling and diving adventures and Melissa and I sit on the beach or go to the spa - we like it this way:) We did venture out on a small catamaran one day and Melissa and I almost clocked a few times when they had to change directions - and we got soaked - really funny!
This time we decided to check out one of the adventure parks in the Cancun area - they have a few - and we chose Xplor. It has a ton of zip lines that just connect to each other in this huge park. You climb up these towers and then just go - it was a little scary the first time, because they aren't all about the safety there, but after one time, I was good. We also were in these caves with canoes and people were ramming into these ancient walls -we were thinking "only in Mexico". We got to drive these ATVs too and that was a blast. They had cameras ALL over the place. We soon found where they were going to be and started posing - I loved it!!
The funniest moments of the trip that I can remember were:  one night as we were watching a "Madonna" performance at one of the nightly shows, these two old men in front of us were completely OUT cold! We could not stop laughing and had to get a pic - so funny. Another funny moment was when the boys went diving and Melissa and I did a spa day. They had us go in this water rotation pool and one of the rotations was so strong, we were literally getting knocked over and our bathing suits were coming off. Then after we had been in the sauna, they wanted us to poor ice on ourselves - AS IF!! We skipped that one and just pretended that we did it - super funny!!

San Fran with Cind - we might have frozen a little though...

For Christmas last year, Spence got Cindy and I a little girls trip out to San Fran - we decided to go in February, which may have not been the best choice in terms of temperature, but we still had a blast! I wore my hat almost the entire time with a coat and gloves. We got only a few looks...
We had a free hotel just out of the city and we decided to take the bait of the "free" and go with it. It turned out that although the hotel was nice, transportation was a beast to get in and out of the city and we hated that part, thought it gave us a bunch of laughs and memories:) Next time, we aren't going to take that bait...

We did all of the touristy things, which I love to do, some Cindy had already done having lived in Sacramento for a couple of years, and some she hadn't. Our first night there, we took BART into the city and went to Pier 39 via a trolley car - very fun, and ate some yummy clam chowder. Getting back was another tricky thing, but we finally found a bus that was so funny, I can barely type it. The guy who drove it was a comedian of sorts, and he made the bus dance (braking and such) had some super funny music going, and told SO many funny jokes - we were dying. It was a little dingy and creepy, but such an experience!

Cindy's friend Carla and Cody and their cute little baby Violet, met us our second day there and drove us all over the City. We went on the bridge and walked across and back, we walked out to a very cool lighthouse, went over to Saulsalito for some lunch, which is where I would LOVE to live if it was just a tad warmer, to Nob Hill, drove down Lombard Street - super crazy that people live on this street, to see the Painted Ladies (Full House anyone?) and to dinner with dessert at this cute little Bakery that was probably the best dessert Cind and I had ever had! That was our busiest day but SO fun.

Sunday, we got in a bind with the transportation again (they change times on Sundays) and ended up taking a Taxi into the city (so much for the free hotel at this point:), and went to the Boudin Bakery for a tour. I loved learning about how it started, what it went through with the earthquake and fire and where it is today - love me some info. tours! We went out to Alcatraz for another tour and that was really amazing. I froze of course, but it was really interesting and of course funny with our headsets! We walked around the Piers that day and had a blast. We also visited the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory and got our free samples - yum!

Monday, was our slow day, but still fun and a LOT of walking. We basically walked the whole downtown area all day, sat in the warm sun in Union Square Park, walked to China Town which ISN'T a must, and then searched all evening for the match to our cute bakery with the delicious desserts which we didn't ever find! We ended up settling for something we thought might be good but wasn't - cue more laughs from us:)

All in all, we had a great trip and plan to do another this year (Spence are you reading this?)!!

When Adri turned 9!!

Okay, this is getting a little crazy, because I am now OVER a year behind! Hoping I can get caught up and get this dang blog printed out soon! 

We were so excited for Adri's 9th birthday because we had our Cindy home. She had just moved back a few days before Adri's bday, so it was really fun to have her here. She decided not to have a bday party and for that I am always grateful:) We went out for sushi of course and then grandma and grandpa Summerhays came over for Adri's favorite dessert - Strawberry Shortcake. Love my Adri girl!!
